How To Find Balance In Life

Are you feeling off balance?  Not enough time in the day to do everything?  It’s so easy to lose sight of ourselves and become overwhelmed with daily chores, work and responsibilities.  How do we find balance in such a fast-paced world? Finding balance in life is important to reduce stress and maintain our mental and spiritual balance.  Apply the following tips on how to find balance in life.

Pray To Increase the Value of Your Time

Fajr prayer is the first obligated prayer of the day and has a lot of benefits.

  • It increases the value of your time i.e. it puts barakah in your day
  • It energises you, If you have more time you will have more energy

Wake up for Fajr prayer every day and start sleeping early each night. When you give time to your Creator, He will make sure you have time to perform all your worldly activities.

Break the Cycle of Procrastination

Do you procrastinate?  As harmless as it may seem procrastination can cause a lot of damage to your time.  Do you remain unproductive for long hours of the day scrolling continuously through your social networks; streaming through endless videos on YouTube and Instagram?  These are common signs of procrastination. If your procrastination is out of hand, take active steps, log out for a while and set a routine in place to help you stay on track and maintain balance.

Maintain a Routine

Just as praying five times a day helps you to develop an established time with Allah, you can also find balance in life by making sure you incorporate quality time-out for yourself. Plan for specific days when you will take a break from all the hustle and bustle of your busy schedule and maybe treat yourself or go somewhere with your family.

  • Take a walk
  • Relax in a warm bath at the end of the day
  • Weekend Spa break with a friend
  • Dine out with your spouse

Being Active

Physical exercise is also a great way to maintain balance in life. Regular exercise can reduce stress and give a boost to your immune system.  Make time in your routine for the gym or long walks. Why not organise a fun game of rounders with your family and friends. Utilise your weekends for halal leisure activities.

Learn to say NO

Are you doing more than you can handle? Do you find it difficult to say no?  A big part to find balance in life is learning to say no. Saying no sometimes is not a bad thing, it can allow you to focus your time and energy on matters in line with your core values and life purpose.

Life with Purpose

Allah (swt) has given us the Quran which contains all the guidance related to the life of this world and the Hereafter. If we sincerely live our lives according to the Quran and the Sunnah then you will find balance in life.

Thank you for sharing these wonderful points MashaAllah. I too had a very difficult time taking care of myself when I became a mother. Finding a routine that worked for me and my own kids really helped alleviate the stress. This allowed me to focus on my spirituality too.
